Last year, my boss’s young daughter was taken ill with an apparent stomach bug which turned out to be a life-threatening growth extending from one side of her stomach to the other. She was treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital and after months of treatment and a major operation, she is now fully recovered and back to her usual self:)
My boss and his family feel eternally indebted to Great Ormand Street for the help they gave Belle so have since dedicated their time and energy to the target of raising £20,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital. As it was an MRI scanner which enabled the doctors to properly diagnose Belle’s illness, the intended target was to fund a reporting office and counselling room for the new MRI unit at the hospital.
Last year my boss, who is a keen sailor and triathlete, chose one of the UK’s most grueling sporting events, The Three Peaks Yacht Race as a fund raising event to take part in. Everyone here at Love Your Bingo wanted to help so we clubbed together to support his cause and last week, Jeremy was able to present Great Ormond Street with Love Your Bingo’s donation of £2,800 towards the target!:)

So far, Jeremy and his friends&family have raised over £21,000! They are continuing to raise money with other events as everything they can raise goes on to benefit those helped by Great Ormond Street’s Children’s Charity

Next year my bosses wife will be raising money for The Friends of Great Ormond Street. This amazing charity, among other things, fund housing for parents. As my boss and his wife found out, this is a vital service. When Belle was poorly, only one parent was allowed to stay with her overnight which meant the other had to leave at bedtime. They were given their own bedsit for one of them to sleep in all paid for by this charity.  Diane (Belle’s mother) will be taking part in the Tatton Sprint Triathlon, I will post details of her justgiving page later in the year.
